Yet another session from Dr Krishna Dutt, left us all with the simplest, finest
and purest thoughts which truly matters. He shared his intense understanding
which comes with years of experience on a book, ‘Joy of life’ authored by the
Nobel Laureates His Holiness Dalai Lama and the archbishop of Capetown
Desmond Tutu who happened to spend time with each other in Dharamsala and
create this thought-provoking book.
Here is the glimpse of the event:
➢ A C F 2G 2H P formula for the joy of life.
➢ A – Acceptance – Do not be selective in your acceptance. Unconditional
acceptance has to be adapted slowly. Live life through nature to adapt
acceptance slowly. Be happy to do things and be attentive in doing things.
➢ C – Compassion - If you have willingness to do something for others,
remain compassionate
➢ F- Forgiveness – Do not spoil your internal environment because of others
feelings and words. Forgiveness means that you should not contaminate
your journey, and move away from it. Let it go. If you are not focused on
yourself and constantly thinking about others, then it is understood that
you have not safeguarded yourself from the impact of others.
➢ G – Generosity –Everything is interdependent and interrelated and gets
influenced by one another. Be generous about people outside your family
too. Do not have to set boundaries and limit yourself to you and your
family.
➢ G -Gratitude – Be thankful and grateful to things which are available in
abundant – sunlight, earth(place), all the life force, energy, wind, water.
Be grateful for the food, for all the comforts in life. This comes by practice
and develop sense of gratitude towards everything.
➢ H – Humour - Humour is an important element. Be simple, heartful and
wear a childlike smile.
➢ H- Humility - Humility is the foundation of all virtues. Life is not
complicated, we make it complicated with our thoughts, with materialistic
needs. The simpler we make our living the more we find the inner joy.
Don’t have to sacrifice, reduce your dependency, and be connected only to
things which matter. We should have clear values in life and develop
proximity with nature.
➢ P- perspective – words have their own meaning in their own context. Be
clear about your intentions not about others intentions. When you are
getting diverted to others and not clear about your intentions, then you
are lost. You cannot control others thoughts, understanding and
intentions. Person’s perspective comes from his understanding of the
situation, other people, the surroundings and also it need not be intended
to hurt others.
➢ Practice all the aforesaid points slowly in life. Then you can receive
secondary response and be non-judgemental.
➢ One shouldn’t struggle to be joyful.
➢ Transform yourself to transform others, change yourself to see the change
in others.
➢ Important tips:
1. Regular practice of deep breathing, sit calm for 5 minutes everyday
2. Reflective thinking – make it a habit to improve yourself
3. Rethink – don’t immediately react, pause and respond
4. Reverse the pattern of feeling and thinking to thinking and feeling in
any given situation
➢ Be friendly with your child and let him pursue his interest. Allow him to
motivate himself, explore his area of interest and then probably your
words will be valued. Never spoil your relationship over a career.
➢ Don’t forcefully motivate kids. Encourage their interest and things will
change magically.
➢ Investigate the parents and treat the child. Simplicity is the solution to all
the problems. Remain simple from within.
